ISABEL CUELLAR
Founder and Executive Director
Mrs. Cuellar lives in Mississauga since 2004. She is a well-known community leader who has spent the largest part of her life as an immigrant building bridges of opportunities and inclusion for the people in the Latin American community. She has tirelessly promoted participation by inviting her community to showcase its cultural, business, professional and dynamic values for all to see and enjoy. Her passion has been Mississauga – since 2008 she has committed herself to the inclusion of the Latin American community into the main fabric of the city through cultural events. This will permit the Latin community to grow as a relevant partner and a willing participant that embraces other cultures.
She is originally from Colombia. She has a bachelor's degree in Law in Colombia. She left her home country to move to Boston (MA-US) in 2000. In Boston, she worked with a non-profit organization as a Settlement Worker and also she was one of the founders of the non-profit organization “ACA” Alianza Colombo Americana, which organized cultural and community events, like the Colombia Independence Day Celebration, Latin Christmas and others in East Boston (MA).
In total, Isabel has more than 20 years of experience working with communities of different backgrounds and producer large cultural events. She is the Director of Colombia en Mississauga, and Founder and Executive Director of the Canadian Latin Heritage Association and Mississauga LATIN Festival. Her experience as a large event producer has allowed her to assume this role with professionalism and dedication for many years. Isabel brings all her experience and passion for the culture to this organization to offer a good event. She ensured the mission was fulfilled each year, providing consistency and continuity from day one.
